FAQs

Are pets allowed?

YES I love all animals and they are always welcomed!

How far ahead do I need to book?

I book typically 2-3 months ahead, and even sooner during the Christmas season. You can book as far out as you would like. But I also have last minute availability if you are flexible with dates.

How do we book a session?

All bookings are first come/ first serve. In order to reserve, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit of your package of choice, a questionnaire to fill out and a signed contract. The remaining balance is due after our session. Please note that the full payment is required for mini sessions.

How do we know you’re availability?

When you contact me, please send me a couple dates that work best for your family and then I will check and see which of those dates work best for my calendar. Weekend dates tend to book up the quickest, but I am usually available every single weekday.

Do you offer any discounts? Payment plans?

Yes! I offer a 10% discount for returning clients, referrals from a past client or if you are apart of certain neighborhood groups. I also offer payment plans. Please note that mini sessions are not eligible for discounts.

If we schedule a photo shoot outdoors but the weather does not cooperate that day, can we reschedule?

Of course! The weather in the DMV is very unpredictable. Regardless of the outlook forecast, I like to typically wait until the day of to reschedule our session.

When should I do my maternity session?

I usually like doing them between 32-35 weeks gestational. But this also depends on how you feel. If you feel like you're ready to take photos at 28 weeks, we can do that too!

Since I don't know exactly when my baby will arrive, how can I book my newborn session?

When you book a newborn sessions, I will reserve 2-3 dates around your due date for your session. The most ideal timeline for a newborn session is when your baby under two weeks old. Once your little one is born, just contact me to let me know and we will secure a date for your session. Of course, if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, please do not worry. All newborn sessions must be done on weekdays, occasionally I will allow a weekend date but since the sessions last 2-3 hours, I like to spend time with my family on the weekends.

I have a busy toddler and I am afraid I don't photograph well, can you pose us or tell us what to do?

I first approach portrait sessions with minimal posing because my favorite images are always the candid ones. If and when necessary, I will step in and guide my clients when needed. I do everything I can to create a relaxed, pressure free atmosphere. I also am very experienced with photoshop, and can do body modifications, head or body swaps in images if requested.

How long does it take to receive our images?

Your proof gallery will be ready 14-21 business days after your session. It takes another week or so to get your finished images depending if you want any additional edits after seeing the proofs.

Where are you located?

I am in downtown Washington DC but I travel throughout the DMV area and love doing sessions in other states like New York and California. I do small charge a travel fee for sessions 40+ miles outside of zipcode 20001.

Do you have a studio?

90% of my sessions take place in my clients’ homes. I usually just bring my backdrop and props to you as a moblie studio. But sometimes clients want to come to my home studio. It is small and can only hold two adults and a one baby at the most. I do not recommend my home for toddlers and children.

We want to buy the Petite Collection, but do we get to pick out our favorite images? What if we like more images than the collection allows?

Yes! You will be given a proof gallery of all of the images able to pick out your favorites then. If you like more pictures, you are welcome to buy more. Single a la carte images cost $85 each or you can upgrade to a larger package later on.

What about location ideas? Would it be possible to secure a date now and find a location later?

Absolutely! As someone who is born and raised here, I have a list of hundreds of locations throughout the DMV area. Since locations can look different at different times of year, I like to scout out and choose locations when it is closer to the date of the sessions, based on how fall/spring colors and blooms are

shaping up then.

What time do you recommend for outdoor photo shoots?

For best “golden hour” lighting, I like to shoot two hours before sunset or two hours after the sunrises. But if it’s an overcast day, we can shoot at anytime of the day.

Would I have the ability download and print the digital photos myself?

Yes, you will receive printing rights for all the images that you purchase.

We are private and don’t want our pictures online, is that okay?

Yes! Here is more information about what steps we can take to work together to ensure your privacy: Privacy for Clients.

Do you have a hair and makeup artist that you work with?

Yes, I work with local HMU artists and they can come to your home before our session for an additional $150.

Any advice on what types of outfits (color, pattern, etc) photograph well?

Please coordinate colors! I prefer no prints or shirts with words on them because they can be distracting and hard to read. Please always wear something comfortable but I also love it when clients get dressed up! I have made two pinterest pages linked below where I compiled some outfit suggestions and colors.
